As part of our Quality Assurance process, Mentor Graphics PCB products are tested on all our supported hardware platforms using native network file system protocols (NFS for UNIX/Linux platforms and CIFS on Windows platforms). These are the proven, mainstream protocols that Mentor Graphics recommends and fully supports.
Some customers may elect to use an alternate file system protocol such as Samba, AFS, Novell or other solution. These protocols are not tested and therefore are not recommended or supported by Mentor Graphics. Any issues encountered when using an unsupported alternate file system protocol should be verified to also exist when using a supported protocol before being raised with the Mentor Graphics Customer Support organization.
Mentor Graphics, at its sole discretion, may make a reasonable effort to support PCB products for customers using alternate protocols. This means that our application engineers will perform due diligence to assist our customers when problems arise if the unsupported alternate protocol is not already known to have performance, stability or other known problems. If no solution or workaround is found and the problem does not occur when using a supported solution, Mentor Graphics will advise the customer to discontinue use of the unsupported alternate file system protocol and adopt a mainstream, supported solution. Use of Mentor Graphics software with an unsupported alternate protocol is solely without warranty or support services and used at your own risk.
