Mentor Graphics will replace hardware keys if the current key is defective, needs to be upgraded, or is lost. Replacements due to defective keys or upgraded keys are at no charge, although the original key must be returned. Mentor will charge a $500 administration fee for replacement of a lost hardware key, and a customer must sign a Software License Change Notification (SLCN) form.
Versions are available for English, Spanish, French, and German keys.
For defective or upgraded keys, the process to request a new hardware key is:
- Open a non-technical Service Request on SupportNet
- The Service Request is assigned to Worldwide Order Fulfillment (WOF).
- WOF ships the new key and the Replacement Key Information form. The shipment includes a UPS return label to send the existing key back.
- A 30 day temporary authorization code using the replacement hardware key number is issued
- You return the old key and the Replacement Key Information form within 30 days using the UPS return label.
- When we receive the old key, we issue a normal authorization code.
- We close the Service Request.
- If the key is not returned to Mentor Graphics, no normal authorization code is issued.
For lost hardware keys, the process to request a new hardware key is:
- Open a non-technical Service Request on SupportNet
- The Service Request will be assigned to Worldwide Order Fulfillment (WOF).
- WOF sends a SW License Change Notice (SLCN) to you for the software registered to the lost dongle.
- You sign the SLCN and return it to Mentor Graphics
- With the SLCN, you send a Purchase Order for part 216908 "Lost Hardware Key Replacement", as well as the appropriate part number for the replacement hardware key.
